Border Patrol Agent – Entry Level

Customs and Border Protection is hiring entry-level Border Patrol Agents for our Sheffield, Caledonia County location. This is a full-time federal law enforcement position that offers the opportunity to protect America's borders while building a meaningful, long-term career in public service.

About This Position

As an entry-level Border Patrol Agent, you'll work at GL-5/7 grade levels with access to new hire sign-on and retention incentives. This role combines field operations with investigative work, requiring vigilance, sound judgment, and dedication to law enforcement excellence. You'll operate across diverse terrain and conditions, working scheduled shifts that may include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Your Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned sectors of the U.S. border on foot, vehicle, and water to detect and prevent illegal crossings
• Apprehend individuals attempting to enter the country illegally and investigate smuggling operations
• Operate surveillance systems and communication equipment to monitor border activity
• Conduct interviews, gather evidence, and prepare detailed reports for law enforcement proceedings
• Maintain equipment, complete required training, and stay current on federal regulations
• Work collaboratively with other federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies

What We're Looking For

• U.S. citizenship and a valid driver's license
• Pass a thorough background investigation and security clearance process
• Pass medical examination, drug screening, and vision/hearing tests
• Willingness to relocate if required by the agency
• Ability to speak Spanish is valuable but not required
• Physical fitness and the stamina to perform demanding fieldwork
• Strong communication and decision-making skills in high-pressure situations
