Legal is seeking a Conflicts Attorney to join our Los Angeles office. This full-time position offers the opportunity to play a critical role in supporting our national operations by managing complex engagement and representation decisions.
Position Summary
As a Conflicts Attorney with Legal, you will serve as a trusted advisor to our practice teams, ensuring the firm maintains the highest standards of professional responsibility and client confidentiality. Reporting directly to the Director of Conflicts, you will lead the evaluation and clearance of potential engagement and representation matters across our national platform. This role combines legal expertise, attention to detail, and strategic thinking to mitigate risk and support the firm's growth.
Core Duties
- Conduct thorough conflict of interest analysis on new engagements and representations
- Review proposed client relationships against firm databases and historical records
- Prepare written conflict opinions and clearance memoranda for practice groups
- Advise partners and counsel on ethical and professional responsibility issues
- Maintain and update conflict management systems and tracking processes
- Collaborate with partners, associates, and administrative staff across multiple offices
- Stay current with changes to ethical rules and professional standards
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Minimum three (3) years of experience as a Conflicts Attorney at a law firm
- Strong knowledge of professional responsibility rules and conflict of interest principles
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters with competing deadlines
- Proficiency with conflict management software and databases
- Demonstrated commitment to accuracy and confidentiality
