About This Position
The Volunteer Coordinator role is central to our mission of providing compassionate end-of-life care. This is a full-time position in Brewer, where you'll serve as an advocate for volunteers while ensuring they're equipped to provide meaningful support to hospice patients and their families. Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Recruit and screen volunteers through targeted community outreach and relationship-building
- Design and deliver volunteer training on hospice care fundamentals, communication, and compassion-centered support
- Match volunteers to patient and family needs, considering both volunteer skills and patient preferences
- Provide hands-on supervision, mentoring, and emotional support to active volunteers
- Maintain volunteer records, schedules, and documentation to ensure program compliance and continuity
- Coordinate volunteer recognition events and foster a culture of belonging and purpose
- Collaborate with nurses, social workers, and clinical staff to align volunteer activities with patient care goals
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrated passion for hospice care and end-of-life support (or strong interest in learning)
- Excellent organizational and project management abilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with diverse populations
- Ability to inspire, motivate, and support volunteers at all experience levels
