CDL A Owner Operator Team Drivers

Roadrunner is recruiting CDL Class A Owner Operator Team Drivers to operate from our Elgin location in Kane County. This is a full-time contracting opportunity designed for experienced professional drivers ready to build their own freight operation with maximum autonomy and earning potential.

Role Overview

As a CDL A Owner Operator Team Driver with Roadrunner, you'll run your own trucking business with the backing of a carrier that prioritizes independent decision-making. Rather than competing with other drivers for freight assignments or working under restrictive dispatch mandates, you'll select the loads and routes that make sense for your operation. Team drivers can earn up to $12K per week gross, with the flexibility to control your home time, load selection, and operational calendar. Whether you're an established team looking for a fresh platform or drivers ready to partner up and launch a team operation, Roadrunner provides the infrastructure without the micromanagement.

Your Responsibilities

• Operate a commercial truck safely and legally across interstate routes, managing your own load selection and scheduling
• Coordinate team driving duties, rest periods, and load handoffs to maintain compliance and efficiency
• Maintain your vehicle in compliance with DOT and FMCSA standards, completing pre-trip inspections and addressing maintenance needs
• Document logs, manifests, and regulatory paperwork accurately to meet federal requirements
• Communicate directly with customers and brokers to negotiate rates and load details
• Plan optimal routes and manage fuel costs to maximize profitability for your business

What You Bring

• Current, valid CDL Class A license with no disqualifying violations or medical restrictions
• Minimum 2–3 years of professional commercial trucking experience (team or solo)
• Clean driving record and ability to pass background screening
• Strong knowledge of federal transportation regulations and logbook compliance
• Mechanical aptitude and commitment to vehicle maintenance and safety
• Professional communication skills and reliability in meeting customer expectations
• For established teams: proof of insurance, business registration, and operational history
