About This Position
As a Shop Trailer Mechanic I at Cox Communications, you'll perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on trailers and related equipment within a structured shop environment. This full-time position offers variable shift work at one of our specified Cox locations, with an hourly base pay rate of $18.17–$27.31 depending on experience and qualifications. This is an individual contributor role with clear pathways for technical growth.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on trailers, including tire, brake, lighting, and structural systems
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using hand tools and diagnostic equipment
- Repair or replace trailer components such as axles, suspension, couplers, and safety systems
- Document work orders, parts used, and time spent on each job
- Follow Cox safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment
- Collaborate with senior technicians and shop supervisors on complex repairs
What You Bring
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate company vehicles for testing repairs
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with hand and power tools
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards
- Ability to read technical manuals and understand wiring diagrams
- Willingness to work variable shifts as part of a transportation logistics team
- Prior trailer repair, automotive, or equipment maintenance experience a plus
