English Language Arts Teacher

Role Overview

You'll serve as a core member of the English department, fostering literacy, critical thinking, and communication skills in high school students. As an English Language Arts Teacher at a high-needs school, you'll work with a collaborative team dedicated to student growth and educational equity. This role combines instructional excellence with a commitment to meeting diverse learner needs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver engaging, standards-aligned ELA instruction in literature, composition, reading, and language arts
• Create differentiated lesson plans that support students at varying skill and proficiency levels
• Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback
• Foster an inclusive classroom culture that encourages student participation, critical analysis, and written and verbal communication
• Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum, share best practices, and support school-wide goals
• Maintain detailed records of student performance and attendance
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and engagement

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
• Valid state teaching certification or license in English Language Arts or equivalent
• Strong command of English language conventions, literature, writing pedagogy, and reading comprehension strategies
• Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver effective instruction to diverse learners
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Passion for education and commitment to student success
• Ability to work collaboratively in a mission-driven school environment
