About the Role
As a Court Security Deputy Sheriff, you'll be responsible for safeguarding courtroom proceedings, courthouse personnel, and the public. Working under direct supervision of a patrol sergeant, you'll combine law enforcement expertise with the specialized skills required in a judicial setting. Your work directly protects life and property while upholding the integrity of court operations.
What You'll Do
- Monitor courtrooms and ensure courtroom security during proceedings and between sessions
- Screen individuals entering the courthouse and conduct security sweeps as needed
- Manage prisoner custody and transport to and from court appearances
- Respond to disturbances or security threats within the courthouse
- Control access to restricted court areas and maintain security protocols
- Assist judges, court staff, and court officers with security-related matters
- Maintain detailed documentation and incident reports
- Work collaboratively with court personnel and other law enforcement agencies
What We're Looking For
- Current Florida Law Enforcement Certification (required)
- Clean background and ability to pass extensive background investigation
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations
- Physical fitness and ability to meet law enforcement standards
- Commitment to public safety and ethical conduct
- Valid driver's license
- Willingness to work flexible schedules including evenings and weekends
