Software Security Lead – Principal Software Engineer – S3E with Security Clearance

RTX is seeking an experienced Software Security Lead to join our Principal Software Engineer team in Tucson, Pima County, Arizona. This is a full-time, onsite position that requires an active and transferable U.S. government security clearance and U.S. citizenship.

About the Role

As a Principal Software Engineer in this Software Security Lead role, you'll drive security strategy and implementation across critical software systems. This is a senior technical position where you'll own the security architecture, threat modeling, and secure development practices that protect our most sensitive work. Your expertise will set the standard for how we build, test, and deploy secure software at scale.

What You'll Do

• Lead and architect secure software solutions for mission-critical applications
• Establish and enforce secure coding standards and security review processes
• Conduct threat modeling and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate security risks
• Mentor and guide engineering teams on security best practices and compliance requirements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security into all phases of the software development lifecycle
• Drive continuous improvement in secure development practices and security tooling
• Own the security posture of assigned systems and recommend architectural improvements

What We're Looking For

• Deep expertise in software security, secure architecture, and threat modeling
• Proven track record at the Principal or Senior Principal level in defense, aerospace, or mission-critical software
• Strong knowledge of secure coding practices, cryptography, and secure system design
• Experience leading security initiatives and building security-conscious engineering teams
• Active and transferable U.S. government security clearance (required prior to start date)
• U.S. citizenship (required for security clearance eligibility)
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence across technical and non-technical stakeholders
