About the Role
As part of our Interim Housing team, the On-Call Cook position directly supports guests throughout their stay by planning, preparing, and serving three daily meals plus snacks. Working alongside kitchen and case management staff, you'll ensure our guests receive consistent, nutritious nourishment while maintaining the highest food safety and sanitation standards. Your role bridges culinary skill with compassionate service—creating an environment where people can rebuild their lives.
What You'll Do
- Prepare high-volume meals from standardized recipes and production schedules
- Cook, bake, and heat food items with attention to timing and temperature safety
- Serve meals on tray lines and portable steam tables at designated times
- Maintain strict sanitation and food safety protocols in all preparation and service
- Manage and rotate food inventory—both perishable and non-perishable items
- Oversee kitchen operations and meal prep in the absence of senior kitchen staff
- Operate and maintain all kitchen equipment in safe, sanitary condition
- Coordinate food donations and meal delivery to multiple PATH sites using company vehicles
- Collaborate with volunteers and kitchen staff to deliver exceptional guest experiences
- Address guest meal requests and accommodate dietary preferences
What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:
- Food Handling Certificate (or ability to obtain before hire date)

- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to employment)
- Successful completion of background check, drug screening, and tuberculosis test
- Legal U.S. work authorization
- Preferred: One year of previous culinary or food service work experience
