Adjunct Faculty – Anthropology Instructor

Black Hawk College seeks an Adjunct Faculty member to teach Anthropology in South Moline, Rock Island County. This part-time position offers an opportunity to engage students in the study of human cultures, societies, and our diverse world.

About the Role

This is a part-time adjunct faculty position within our Anthropology Department. You'll design and teach courses that introduce students to anthropological concepts and methods, preparing them for further study or careers in education, research, policy, and cultural work.

What You'll Do

• Develop and deliver course syllabi and lesson plans aligned with departmental learning outcomes
• Lead engaging lectures, discussions, and collaborative learning activities
• Create assessments, evaluate student performance, and provide constructive feedback
• Hold regular office hours and mentor students throughout the term
• Participate in departmental meetings and institutional initiatives as needed
• Stay current with developments in anthropological research and pedagogy

What We're Looking For

• Master's degree in Anthropology, Cultural Anthropology, Biological Anthropology, or related field
• Prior teaching experience in anthropology or related social sciences
• Strong knowledge of anthropological concepts, methods, and subfields
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Commitment to inclusive, student-centered teaching practices
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to departmental goals
