About the Role
This is a full-time, as-needed position that works directly with the Parks, Recreation, and Cemetery Divisions to maintain high-quality public spaces and programs. The incumbent helps ensure facilities remain welcoming, secure, and well‑maintained for residents of all ages and abilities.
What You'll Do
- Assist in the planning and development of park improvement projects
- Support daily operation and routine maintenance of city parks and open spaces
- Help deliver recreational classes, programs, and events for diverse age groups and ability levels
- Monitor facilities to ensure they are safe, clean, and attractive
- Perform basic upkeep tasks at city cemetery grounds when required
- Communicate with park visitors, program participants, and team members to promote a positive experience
- Follow all city safety protocols, policies, and procedures
What We're Looking For
- Experience in recreation programming, park maintenance, facilities management, or a related field
- Ability to work a flexible, as‑needed schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with the public and coworkers
- Basic knowledge of park operations, grounds care, and recreational service delivery
- Commitment to providing inclusive, accessible services to all community members
- Valid driver’s license may be required for travel between sites
- Capability to lift moderate weights, stand for extended periods, and work outdoors in various weather conditions
