Algorithm and Crypto Transition Analyst – Cyber Capability Center – TS w/ SCI eligibility

Applied Research Solutions is hiring a full-time Algorithm and Crypto Transition Analyst to join the Headquarters Cyber Capability Center at Scott Air Force Base in Saint Clair County, Illinois. This role directly supports the Air Force's cryptographic modernization mission and requires Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information eligibility.

About the Role

The Headquarters Cyber Capability Center identifies and addresses cryptographic capability gaps across the Air Force's full operational spectrum—spanning space, air, cyber, and ground domains. As an Algorithm and Crypto Transition Analyst, you'll advance critical cryptographic modernization initiatives, working at the intersection of technical security architecture and strategic force capability. You'll help transition legacy systems to modernized cryptographic solutions while ensuring operational readiness across all platforms.

What You'll Do

• Analyze and evaluate cryptographic algorithms for suitability across diverse operational environments and mission contexts
• Support the modernization and transition of legacy cryptographic systems to current standards and technologies
• Identify cryptographic capability gaps affecting Air Force operations and mission effectiveness
• Collaborate across operational domains to understand technical requirements, security constraints, and implementation challenges
• Contribute to development of cryptographic modernization strategies and policy recommendations
• Conduct technical assessments on algorithm performance, security posture, and compliance requirements

What We're Looking For

• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information access
• Strong technical background in cryptography, algorithm analysis, or information security
• Experience in federal or defense sector technical positions
• Ability to explain complex security concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, cybersecurity, or related discipline (or equivalent professional experience)
• Strong analytical capabilities with attention to detail and problem-solving orientation
