Role Overview
As a part-time substitute teacher with Kokua Education, you'll step in to lead classrooms across the region, maintaining continuity in student learning when full-time teachers are unavailable. You control your own schedule and choose which assignments align with your availability. Substitutes earn up to $144 per day and gain the satisfaction of supporting students' educational development through engaging instruction and positive classroom leadership. Kokua Education is currently welcoming applications for the 2026-27 school year, and qualified candidates can begin the interview process immediately.
Responsibilities
- Deliver instruction following established lesson plans provided by permanent teachers
- Manage classroom behavior and maintain a productive learning environment
- Take attendance, assign and collect work, and maintain accurate classroom records
- Communicate progress and concerns to permanent staff and administration
- Adapt teaching methods to meet diverse student learning needs
- Supervise students during non-instructional times when assigned
Qualifications
- Valid teaching certificate or equivalent credential required by your state
- High school diploma or GED minimum
- Ability to pass a background check and fingerprinting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable transportation to schools throughout College Station and the surrounding region
- Flexibility to work with varied schedules and grade levels
