RN – Labor & Delivery (L&D/OB)

Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital is seeking a dedicated RN - Labor & Delivery (L&D/OB) for a travel nursing assignment in Mayfield, Graves County.

About the Role

This is a full‑time travel position lasting 13 weeks, with a start date of July 6, 2026 and an anticipated end date of October 5, 2026. The assignment involves 12‑hour night shifts totaling 36 hours per week and offers a weekly compensation rate of $2,142.00. You will be placed at Jackson Purchase Medical Center to support their labor and delivery unit.

What You'll Do

• Provide comprehensive care to patients throughout antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum phases
• Monitor maternal and fetal vital signs, interpret fetal heart tracings, and notify the obstetric team of any changes
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and instrumental births while maintaining sterile technique
• Administer medications, IV fluids, and epidural analgesia as ordered, documenting all interventions
• Educate patients and families on labor processes, pain management options, newborn care, and discharge instructions
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff to ensure safe, timely interventions
• Maintain accurate electronic health records in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards
• Participate in unit‑based quality improvement initiatives and staff education sessions

What We're Looking For

• Active, unrestricted RN license in good standing (compact license preferred for travel assignments)
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications
• Minimum of two years of recent experience in a labor and delivery or obstetric setting
• Proficiency in fetal monitoring, IV therapy, and medication administration specific to perinatal care
• Ability to work independently during night shifts while communicating effectively with a multidisciplinary team
• Strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and a patient‑centered approach to care
• Willingness to relocate temporarily to Mayfield, Graves County for the duration of the assignment
• Flexibility to adapt to varying patient acuities and unit workflows
