Safety and Training Manager

MV Transportation is seeking a Safety and Training Manager for its Fillmore, Ventura County location to lead safety initiatives and training programs for transportation operations.

About the Role

The Safety and Training Manager serves as a key leader responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety policies and training curricula that keep drivers, staff, and passengers protected while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

What You'll Do

• Design and deliver comprehensive safety and orientation training for new and existing employees
• Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across facilities and vehicles
• Investigate incidents and accidents, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of OSHA, DOT, FTA, and CAL/OSHA requirements and integrate them into company procedures
• Coordinate with operations supervisors to schedule training sessions and track completion metrics
• Develop and manage safety communication materials, including bulletins, posters, and digital alerts
• Ensure accurate recordkeeping of training credentials, certifications, and safety documentation in compliance with audit standards
• Facilitate ongoing professional development opportunities such as refresher courses and specialty certifications
• Support emergency preparedness planning and participate in drills and tabletop exercises

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience in safety management, occupational health, or transportation training, preferably within the public transit or motorcoach industry
• Strong understanding of federal and state safety regulations governing passenger transportation
• Ability to create engaging instructional content and facilitate adult learning in classroom and hands‑on settings
• Excellent interpersonal skills for collaborating with diverse teams, union representatives, and regulatory agencies
• Proficiency with learning management systems, incident tracking software, and standard office applications
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on data‑driven improvement of safety performance
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various sites as needed
• Commitment to fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
