Safety and Training Manager

MV Transportation is seeking a Safety and Training Manager to join its team in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles County.

About the Role

The Safety and Training Manager will lead the development and execution of safety initiatives and training programs that keep passengers, employees, and vehicles operating securely. This position works closely with operations leaders to ensure adherence to federal, state, and local transportation regulations while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

What You'll Do

• Design, implement, and monitor safety policies and procedures that comply with DOT, OSHA, FTA, and California-specific requirements.
• Conduct new‑hire orientations, recurring safety refresher courses, and specialized training for operators, maintenance staff, and supervisors.
• Lead incident investigations, root‑cause analyses, and corrective‑action planning to reduce recurrence.
• Maintain accurate training records, safety metrics, and compliance documentation for internal audits and regulatory reporting.
• Collaborate with department heads to identify hazards, develop mitigation strategies, and promote best practices across all locations.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through assessments, feedback, and performance data, making adjustments as needed.
• Stay current on evolving safety legislation and industry trends, recommending updates to company standards.
• Support emergency preparedness drills and coordinate with local authorities when required.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience managing safety and training functions within a transit, transportation, or related fleet environment.
• Strong knowledge of FTA, DOT, OSHA, and Cal/OSHA regulations applicable to passenger transportation.
• Ability to design engaging curricula and deliver instruction to diverse adult learners.
• Excellent analytical skills for investigating incidents and interpreting safety data.
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Proficiency with learning management systems, safety tracking software, and Microsoft Office suite.
• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, transportation management, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience considered.
• Valid driver’s license and eligibility to meet company‑specific background and medical standards.
