What You'll Do
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements for aerospace and defense contracts.
- Assist with monthly and quarterly close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Monitor compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) for government‑funded projects.
- Support internal and external audit preparations, including workpaper assembly and response to auditor inquiries.
- Analyze project costs, variances, and profitability to provide insights to contract managers.
- Maintain and reconcile project billing, revenue recognition, and cost allocation in accordance with contract terms.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to improve accounting processes and system controls.
- Assist with special projects such as system implementations, process improvements, and ad‑hoc financial analysis.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification or active progress toward certification preferred.
- Three or more years of professional accounting experience, preferably in government contracting, aerospace, or defense industries.
- Solid understanding of FAR, CAS, and other federal contracting requirements.
- Proficiency with ERP systems commonly used in government contracting (e.g., Deltek Costpoint, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical mindset with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication abilities to convey financial information to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
