North Pike School District is seeking a full-time School Bus Monitor for our Summit location in Pike County. In this role, you'll be a key member of our transportation team, working directly with our bus drivers to create a safe, supportive environment for students traveling to and from school each day.

About the Role

The School Bus Monitor is responsible for supporting student safety and maintaining discipline during student transportation. You'll partner with drivers to oversee passenger behavior, assist students with boarding and alighting, and ensure all safety protocols are consistently followed throughout each route.

What You'll Do

  • Assist students with safe boarding and exiting procedures, with particular attention to younger children and students requiring additional support
  • Supervise student conduct and address behavioral concerns in a calm, professional manner
  • Monitor compliance with bus safety rules and district transportation policies
  • Support the driver by reporting safety concerns, behavioral incidents, or maintenance issues to appropriate staff
  • Assist students with accessibility needs and ensure inclusive, welcoming interactions with all passengers
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents or unusual occurrences during transit
  • Uphold the district's commitment to student safety and create a positive transportation experience

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven ability to supervise and communicate effectively with students of various ages
  • Strong commitment to student safety and well-being
  • Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately to challenging situations
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Valid driver's license preferred
  • Willingness to follow district policies and procedures
