About the Role
As a Bilingual 4th Grade Teacher at Shands Elementary, you will design and deliver engaging, research-informed instruction that develops literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking in both English and Spanish. You'll create a classroom culture where all learners feel valued and empowered to take academic risks. This exempt position reports to the school principal and requires full-time commitment throughout the school year.
What You'll Do
- Plan and execute daily lessons aligned to state standards, balancing English and Spanish language instruction
- Assess student progress through formative and summative measures, adjusting instruction to meet diverse learning needs
- Implement differentiated strategies that support multilingual learners at varying proficiency levels
- Maintain accurate records of student achievement and communicate regularly with families about progress and growth
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, specialists, and instructional coaches to strengthen curriculum and share best practices
- Participate in professional development and grade-level planning to continuously improve teaching effectiveness
- Create an inclusive, respectful classroom community where 4th graders develop confidence and cultural awareness
What We're Looking For
- Valid Texas teaching certification at the elementary level with bilingual endorsement (or eligibility)
- Demonstrated fluency in both English and Spanish, spoken and written
- Strong foundation in literacy instruction, mathematics, science, and social studies
- Experience designing lessons that integrate language development with content learning
- Commitment to equity, family engagement, and meeting every student's social-emotional and academic needs
- Ability to work collaboratively and respond to feedback in a dynamic school environment
