Join GFL Environmental as a Diesel Mechanic-B Tech at our Wilmington, New Hanover County facility, where you'll service and maintain a critical fleet of commercial vehicles on a 2nd shift schedule.
About the Role
We're seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic-B Tech to keep our fleet operating safely and reliably. Working the second shift (12:00 PM – 11:30 PM), you'll perform both corrective repairs and preventative maintenance on our Diesel and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered vehicles. Your work directly supports GFL's commitment to environmental responsibility and operational excellence by ensuring every vehicle is inspection-ready and performing at peak efficiency.
What You'll Do
- Execute diagnostic tests and repairs on Diesel engines and CNG fuel systems
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to extend vehicle lifespan and reduce downtime
- Document all service work accurately and maintain fleet maintenance records
- Collaborate with shop leadership and team members to meet fleet availability targets
- Adhere to safety standards and best practices in all maintenance and repair work
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems to identify root causes of vehicle issues
What We're Looking For
- B-Level Diesel Mechanic certification or demonstrated expertise with Diesel engines and CNG systems
- Proven experience performing repairs and preventative maintenance on commercial vehicles
