About this role & career path

A regional solar development director path typically builds from project development, real estate, or energy project management into portfolio ownership—origination, risk, and capital readiness—especially at firms scaling solar plus storage.

Build the skills for this role

Prioritize utility-scale solar development, interconnection and permitting literacy, land/community engagement, financial modeling for project finance, and storage co-location basics. No certification list was provided for this role family.

Be ready to walk a Central Region solar deal from greenfield to NTP: risk gates, KKR-backed growth implications, how you de-risk land and grid, and how you align development pace with capital and offtake reality.

Strong fit if you have led multi-state solar development, can own a regional pipeline end-to-end, and are comfortable tying project milestones to institutional capital and storage co-development.
