High School Counselor – Oregon Connections Academy

Connections Academy is seeking a dedicated High School Counselor to support the academic, personal, and career development of our high school students across Oregon. Based in John Day, Grant County, you'll serve students in our accredited, tuition-free online school in a full-time position that makes a meaningful difference in young lives.

About the Role

As a High School Counselor at Oregon Connections Academy, you'll provide comprehensive guidance and support to high school students navigating their educational journey in our online learning environment. Working closely with families, teachers, and school leadership, you'll help students succeed academically, prepare for life after graduation, and develop the skills they need to thrive.

What You'll Do

• Develop and implement academic plans, helping students select appropriate courses and sequences aligned with their goals
• Guide college and career exploration, including assistance with applications, scholarship research, and career pathway planning
• Monitor student academic progress and intervene early when performance needs support
• Provide personalized counseling on social-emotional concerns and connect students with mental health resources as needed
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress and opportunities
• Manage student records, transcripts, and academic standing documentation
• Prepare students for standardized testing and help them understand results and implications
• Foster an inclusive, supportive school community that celebrates student success

What We're Looking For

• Valid state licensure or certification as a school counselor
• Bachelor's degree in counseling, education, social work, or related field
• Experience working with high school students and families
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency with school information systems and online collaboration tools
• Understanding of adolescent development and learning diversity
• Commitment to supporting all students regardless of background or circumstance
