The Opportunity

Minnesota Connections Academy is seeking a dedicated Secondary Reading Interventionist to provide specialized literacy support to students within our K–12 online charter school. You'll work directly with learners who benefit from targeted, intensive reading instruction, designing interventions that address individual reading challenges and accelerate progress toward grade-level benchmarks. This position combines your diagnostic expertise with adaptive instruction to transform how struggling readers engage with text.

Core Duties

• Administer and interpret reading assessments to identify student skill gaps and learning profiles
• Develop individualized intervention plans grounded in literacy research and aligned with student goals
• Deliver targeted, small-group and one-on-one reading instruction using evidence-based methodologies
• Track student progress through formative assessments and adjust instruction to ensure continuous growth
• Partner with secondary teachers, special education specialists, and school administrators to coordinate intervention efforts and maintain instructional coherence
• Document student attendance, performance metrics, and instructional outcomes systematically
• Engage families through regular progress updates and guidance on supporting literacy development at home

Qualifications

• Minnesota teaching license or Reading Specialist certification (or approved alternative route to licensure)
• Proven experience in secondary literacy intervention and adolescent reading development
• Proficiency with literacy assessment instruments and data-driven instructional decision-making
• Familiarity with evidence-based reading programs and intervention frameworks
• Strong interpersonal and written communication abilities across diverse audiences
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within an online learning environment
• Comfort with educational technology platforms and synchronous digital instruction
