Position Summary

Simpson Judge Ltd seeks a Legal Cashier to strengthen its accounts function at the Wilmslow, Cheshire office. The post is designed for a legal finance professional who already holds at least twelve months of hands-on legal cashiering or legal accounts experience. You will occupy a central seat in the finance team, ensuring client monies and firm funds are recorded accurately and that day-to-day cashiering work runs smoothly within a collaborative professional setting.

Your Responsibilities

• Record receipts, payments and inter-account transfers on both client and office ledgers with complete accuracy
• Carry out daily bank reconciliations and resolve variances without delay
• Raise and post bills, credit notes and related ledger entries
• Process BACS and other payments under firm procedures and SRA Accounts Rules
• Prepare month-end schedules and assist with regular management reporting
• Maintain complete audit trails for every movement of client money
• Respond promptly to fee-earner queries on balances, disbursements and payment status
• Support the wider finance team with routine administrative duties connected to legal accounts

Requirements

• A minimum of twelve months’ experience earned in a legal cashiering or legal accounts role
• Familiarity with dual-ledger systems and the rules governing solicitors’ client money
• Proven numerical accuracy and rigorous attention to detail
• Ability to manage competing deadlines and prioritise time-sensitive transactions
• Clear written and verbal communication for liaison with colleagues and banks
• Confident working knowledge of standard legal-accounts packages and Microsoft Excel
