BNY Mellon is hiring a Senior Vice President, 1LoD Risk and Controls to join our team on-site in Bowling Green, Manhattan, helping safeguard one of the most important institutions at the center of the global financial system.

About the Role

As a Senior Vice President, 1LoD Risk and Controls at BNY Mellon, you will own first line of defense risk management within the business, partnering with operational, technology, and compliance stakeholders to embed strong controls into everyday processes. This full-time, on-site position in Bowling Green, Manhattan places you at the heart of how BNY Mellon identifies, measures, and mitigates risk across an enterprise that touches close to a fifth of the world's investable assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, execution, and continuous improvement of first line of defense (1LoD) risk and control frameworks.
• Identify emerging risks, assess control effectiveness, and drive timely remediation of gaps.
• Partner with business, operations, and second line teams to strengthen the overall control environment.
• Translate regulatory expectations and internal policy into practical, scalable controls.
• Report risk posture and key issues clearly to senior leadership and governance forums.
• Mentor team members and promote a culture of accountability and sound risk decision-making.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in risk management, internal controls, audit, or compliance within financial services.
• Deep understanding of first line of defense responsibilities and control frameworks.
• Proven ability to influence stakeholders and lead cross-functional initiatives at a senior level.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Comfort working on-site in Bowling Green, Manhattan in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.
