Sedgwick is hiring a Workers Compensation Claims Examiner to join our team in Wake Island, Honolulu. This is a full-time position for an experienced professional with specialized knowledge of New York workers compensation law, subrogation processes, and state licensing requirements.

About the Role

As a Workers Compensation Claims Examiner, you'll manage the complex investigation, evaluation, and resolution of workers compensation claims within the New York jurisdiction. Your expertise in NY workers compensation statutes, case law, and regulatory compliance will be essential to ensuring accurate claim determinations and protecting organizational interests through effective subrogation recovery strategies.

What You'll Do

• Investigate and examine workers compensation claims filed within New York, applying detailed knowledge of NY jurisdiction-specific regulations and precedents
• Evaluate medical records, witness statements, and evidence to determine claim validity and appropriate benefit levels
• Identify subrogation opportunities and coordinate recovery efforts against responsible third parties
• Prepare thorough claim files and detailed reports documenting investigation findings and recommendations
• Ensure all claim handling complies with New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) requirements and state workers compensation law
• Communicate claim decisions clearly to claimants, employers, and medical providers
• Maintain organized records and meet established claim handling timelines

What We're Looking For

• Current New York workers compensation examiner license or equivalent state certification
• Demonstrated experience handling workers compensation claims under New York jurisdiction
• Proven expertise in subrogation identification, investigation, and recovery processes
• Strong analytical and investigative skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Thorough understanding of NY workers compensation statutes, administrative codes, and case law
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with claims teams and external partners
