Join Barnes as a Welder and Training Technician at our East Granby, Connecticut facility. This is a full-time, 6-month contract position that combines hands-on welding work with workforce development and mentorship responsibilities.

The Opportunity

The Barnes Aerospace CRO site in East Granby, Hartford County is building its welding operations and seeking an experienced Welder and Training Technician to support this mission. You'll work across multiple shifts (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) in a collaborative environment where technical skill and teaching ability both matter. This role is central to developing competent welders who will shape the future of our aerospace operations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare materials and workpieces for welding operations according to specifications
• Perform various welding techniques on materials such as steel, aluminum, and specialized alloys
• Conduct hands-on training and coaching for junior welders and apprentices
• Mentor team members on proper welding procedures, safety protocols, and quality standards
• Inspect welds for adherence to drawings and quality requirements
• Maintain welding equipment and keep workspace organized and compliant

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a welder with proficiency in multiple welding processes
• Strong understanding of welding symbols, blueprints, and technical drawings
• Ability to train, coach, and communicate effectively with team members
• Knowledge of quality standards and inspection procedures in welding
