The Perry Group: Site Construction Manager 1 (Substation – 100% Field)

The Perry Group, a subsidiary of CDM Smith, is hiring a Site Construction Manager 1 (Substation - 100% Field) in South Paterson, Passaic County to oversee substation construction operations. This is a full-time, on-site position based in the field, reporting directly to project leadership.

About the Role

As Site Construction Manager, you'll lead day-to-day construction activities on our substation project, ensuring work progresses safely, on schedule, and within budget. You'll coordinate crews, manage logistics, maintain quality standards, and communicate project status to the broader team. Your presence on-site ensures construction sequencing runs smoothly and all stakeholders stay aligned on progress and milestones.

What You'll Do

• Oversee field operations and crew coordination across substation construction activities
• Enforce safety protocols, regulatory compliance, and site security measures
• Schedule resources, equipment, and subcontractor work to maintain timeline
• Track budget, monitor costs, and report progress to project management
• Conduct daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and crew briefings
• Inspect completed work and resolve construction quality issues
• Document daily logs, incident reports, and construction records
• Serve as primary field liaison between construction crews, engineering, and project stakeholders

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of construction management or on-site supervision experience, preferably in infrastructure or utility projects
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, equipment, and safety standards (OSHA experience a plus)
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and lead crews effectively
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Experience reading construction drawings and understanding project specifications
• Valid driver's license and ability to work 100% in the field
• High school diploma or equivalent; construction management certification or degree preferred
