About the Role

As a Long-Term Substitute Speech and Language Pathologist in West Hartford Public Schools, you'll provide specialized assessment and intervention services to support student communication development. This is a full-time position within Student Support Services, based at Wolcott Elementary School.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct comprehensive speech and language screenings and assessments for students with suspected communication disorders
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans aligned with Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals
  • Deliver direct services to students in small groups or individual settings to address speech, language, fluency, and voice disorders
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and families to reinforce communication strategies in the classroom environment
  • Monitor student progress and document therapeutic outcomes
  • Participate in IEP meetings and student support team conferences
  • Maintain detailed clinical documentation and student records in compliance with district and state regulations

What We're Looking For

  • Valid Connecticut Speech-Language Pathology Certification (061)
  • Valid Connecticut Speech and Language Pathologist license
  • Experience working in school-based settings or demonstrated knowledge of school-age speech and language development
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and school staff
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting student success
  • Professional demeanor and commitment to supporting diverse learners
