About the Role
As a Special Education Teacher with Erie City School District, you will work under the general direction of your building principal to help students with diverse learning needs reach their fullest potential. This full-time, in-person position spans grades PK through 12 and is available district-wide, with placements possible at every grade level and across multiple program types.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver individualized instruction that maximizes the learning experience of students with special needs.
- Support students across program areas including Life Skills, Autistic Support, Learning Support, and Emotional Support.
- Adapt curriculum, materials, and teaching strategies to meet each learner's goals.
- Collaborate with school principals, fellow educators, and support staff to create an inclusive classroom environment.
- Monitor student progress and contribute to the planning that guides their educational growth.
Qualifications
- Appropriate certification to teach Special Education at the PK-12 level.
- Familiarity with supporting students in Life Skills, Autistic Support, Learning Support, and/or Emotional Support settings.
- A commitment to serving students with special needs and helping each one succeed.
- Strong collaboration skills for working alongside principals, colleagues, and families.
