Director of Federal Policy & Advocacy

Methodist Healthcare Ministries Of S. Tx seeks a Director of Federal Policy & Advocacy to lead comprehensive policy strategy and government relations efforts in Balcones Heights, Bexar County. This full-time leadership role shapes federal and state policy initiatives that advance health equity and create measurable impact for underserved communities across Texas.

About the Role

As Director of Federal Policy & Advocacy, you'll serve as the strategic lead for all federal and state legislative engagement. You'll develop and champion policy initiatives aligned with the organization's mission to serve vulnerable populations, coordinate high-level partnerships with government and nonprofit stakeholders, and oversee advocacy campaigns that drive systemic change. This position requires both tactical execution and long-term strategic thinking to influence policy at local, state, and federal levels.

What You'll Do

• Design and execute federal and state policy strategies that address health disparities and improve outcomes in underserved communities
• Build and maintain relationships with elected officials, agency leadership, and advocacy partners to amplify organizational priorities
• Lead contract negotiations and partnership agreements with government entities and community organizations
• Direct policy research, analyze legislative developments, and translate findings into actionable advocacy recommendations
• Manage operations across the federal policy and advocacy function, including budgeting and resource allocation
• Represent the organization publicly and in policy forums; develop communications that advance advocacy objectives
• Oversee compliance and ensure advocacy activities meet all regulatory requirements

• Proven leadership experience in healthcare policy, government relations, or public advocacy
• Deep knowledge of federal and state legislative processes and health policy landscape
• Track record of building partnerships and influencing policy outcomes
• Strong analytical and strategic planning capabilities
