Southeast Conservation Associate Director

Americanrivers seeks a Southeast Conservation Associate Director based in Remote to lead conservation initiatives across the Southeast region. In this full-time leadership position, you'll advance our mission to protect and restore the nation's rivers and freshwater ecosystems.

Role Overview

As Southeast Conservation Associate Director, you'll provide strategic leadership and management for Americanrivers' conservation programs throughout the Southeast. This role combines direct program oversight, stakeholder relationship building, and advocacy strategy to expand river protection and restoration efforts across the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement regional conservation strategies and campaign initiatives focused on river protection and ecosystem restoration
• Build and strengthen partnerships with community groups, government agencies, academic institutions, and conservation organizations across the Southeast
• Lead advocacy efforts including policy engagement, public education campaigns, and community mobilization on behalf of river conservation
• Oversee day-to-day program management and supervise team members engaged in conservation work
• Manage program budgets, track grant compliance, and evaluate program effectiveness and outcomes
• Serve as organizational representative at regional meetings, conferences, coalitions, and public forums

Skills & Qualifications

• Master's degree in environmental science, conservation, environmental policy, biology, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
• 5 or more years of professional experience in conservation, environmental advocacy, nonprofit leadership, or related field
• Demonstrated success leading and managing teams on complex projects
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences
• Knowledge of environmental policy, river conservation priorities, and Southeast ecological conditions preferred
• Ability to build consensus and work collaboratively with multiple stakeholder groups
