The Opportunity

The Salvation Army, a nationally recognized faith-based organization, is seeking compassionate professionals to serve as Shelter Monitors at our Odessa corps facility. In this role, you'll be part of a dedicated team providing essential shelter services to individuals and families in need. This is an opportunity to make a direct, daily impact on people's lives while helping our community address housing insecurity.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist residents upon arrival; complete comprehensive client intake procedures and maintain accurate intake documentation
  • Monitor resident activity throughout assigned shifts, ensuring safety, security, and compliance with facility policies
  • Respond to resident requests and concerns with professionalism and compassion
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on resident activities and facility conditions
  • Enforce safety protocols and facility rules to create a secure environment for all residents
  • Coordinate with other staff members and departments to support resident needs and well-being

Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with diverse populations
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to remain calm and responsive in challenging situations
