The Opportunity
The Salvation Army, a nationally recognized faith-based organization, is seeking compassionate professionals to serve as Shelter Monitors at our Odessa corps facility. In this role, you'll be part of a dedicated team providing essential shelter services to individuals and families in need. This is an opportunity to make a direct, daily impact on people's lives while helping our community address housing insecurity.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Greet and assist residents upon arrival; complete comprehensive client intake procedures and maintain accurate intake documentation
- Monitor resident activity throughout assigned shifts, ensuring safety, security, and compliance with facility policies
- Respond to resident requests and concerns with professionalism and compassion
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on resident activities and facility conditions
- Enforce safety protocols and facility rules to create a secure environment for all residents
- Coordinate with other staff members and departments to support resident needs and well-being
Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with diverse populations
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to remain calm and responsive in challenging situations
- Physical ability to perform duties and be present on-site during assigned shifts
