Senior Validation Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential mixed-signal semiconductor organization seeking a Senior Validation Engineer to join their team in Edinburgh, Scotland. Our client develops advanced audio processing solutions for leading consumer electronics brands worldwide. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge silicon validation in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute bench-level tests during pre-silicon and post-silicon phases to verify product functionality and performance against datasheet specifications
• Test and debug embedded on-chip circuitry including amplifiers, data converters, and power converters to ensure they meet performance requirements
• Collaborate with validation and production test engineering teams to implement best practices and continuous improvements to backend test methodologies
• Work closely with design, systems, and applications engineering teams to understand technical requirements and use cases
• Design, develop, and debug silicon validation board-level hardware and bring up platforms prior to first silicon availability
• Develop automated test frameworks and regression test suites in Python to optimize validation efficiency
• Analyze test results and identify failures and defects using business intelligence tools
• Prepare technical reports and summaries documenting all collected data

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics or related engineering discipline with relevant industry experience
• Advanced electrical engineering knowledge in audio electronics, analog, digital, or power electronics
• Solid hands-on experience with laboratory equipment including oscilloscopes, signal generators, audio analyzers, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers for measurement and debugging
• Strong understanding of mixed-signal building blocks such as ADCs, DACs, PLLs, amplifiers, signal processing, and IC control/communication protocols
• Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to understand interactions between silicon, board-level hardware, and software
• Highly driven approach to technical challenges

Preferred:

• Experience in post-silicon validation, mixed-signal IP block design/validation, audio signal processing, or power management
• Proficiency with simulation tools such as LTSpice for circuit design support
• Experience with automation framework hardware tools (FPGA, DSP, NI Data Acquisition) or software tools/languages (C, Python, SQL, NI TestStand, schematic capture tools)
• Understanding of industry interface standards such as I2C, SPI, USB, I2S, TDM, or high-speed control/data buses
• Experience with version control tools such as Git, SVN, or Perforce

Location: This position is office-based in Edinburgh, Scotland. Candidates must be within commutable distance or willing to relocate.
