Senior Software Engineer – Data

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential healthcare technology organization based in München that is building advanced data infrastructure to support medical software development. Our talent team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer – Data to help design and scale data platforms that enable automated testing and evaluation using large-scale datasets.

This is a hybrid position based in Munich, offering the opportunity to work on meaningful problems at the intersection of data engineering and healthcare innovation.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, secure, and resilient data platforms and architectures
• Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines for both structured and unstructured data
• Build, deploy, and manage data storage systems and databases, including technologies like Apache Iceberg and MongoDB
• Develop, optimize, and enforce data quality, lineage, compliance, and security controls across the system
• Write services for data ingestion, access, and processing
• Collaborate with data analysts to support reporting, analytics, and machine learning use cases
• Document data models, processes, architectures, and best practices
• Contribute to a collaborative engineering culture within a talented technical team

What We're Looking For

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Strong experience in data engineering and modern data platform development
• Solid understanding of data architecture, data modeling, and data engineering best practices
• Hands-on experience with Python, Go, TypeScript/JavaScript, and/or Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
• Experience with modern software development practices including CI/CD, containerization, and GitHub Actions
• Experience building and operating cloud-based solutions, ideally on AWS
• Familiarity with healthcare standards such as FHIR or DICOM is a plus
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured and pragmatic approach
• Collaborative mindset with excellent teamwork skills and passion for continuous learning
• Excellent communication skills in English; German language skills are an advantage
