Senior Group Marketing Controller (All genders)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential global organization in their search for a Senior Group Marketing Controller based in Berlin. In this role, you will serve as the primary finance interface for a multi-market marketing function, ensuring marketing spend is planned accurately, closed correctly, and reported transparently.

Your core responsibilities will include:

• Owning the month-end close process for marketing cost lines across all markets
• Reviewing and validating marketing accruals submitted by local finance teams
• Identifying and resolving booking errors, misclassifications, or missing accruals
• Maintaining clean actuals in the income statement for all marketing line items
• Consolidating and challenging market-level marketing budgets during planning cycles
• Leading marketing guidance creation for business planning cycles
• Maintaining group marketing budgets and tracking actuals versus budget versus forecast
• Producing monthly marketing performance reports covering spend, phasing, and key variance drivers
• Supporting CFO and board reporting with accurate marketing cost commentary
• Acting as the day-to-day finance contact for global marketing teams
• Managing direct and indirect spend for the marketing organization
• Documenting and improving end-to-end marketing close processes
• Ensuring consistent cost treatment across markets

What We're Looking For

Our ideal candidate brings several years of experience in financial controlling, FP&A, or a similar finance business-partnering role. Exposure to marketing or performance-marketing cost structures is highly valued.

Key qualifications include:

• Strong Excel and Google Sheets skills with comfort working with large datasets and BI/reporting tools
• Proven ability to explain financial variances clearly to non-finance stakeholders
• Experience running or supporting a month-end close process
• Comfort operating across multiple markets and currencies in a fast-paced, matrixed organization
• Curiosity about how AI and automation can modernize financial reporting
• Professional proficiency in English; German language skills are a plus

Success in this role means delivering a clean marketing close every month with no material restatements, proactively explaining variances, and standardizing marketing controller processes across markets.
