Senior Center Assistant

Join Frederick County Government as a Senior Center Assistant located in Hood College, Frederick County. This position offers an excellent opportunity to support and serve older adults in our community through direct assistance with programs, activities, and daily operations.

About This Position

Frederick County Government is hiring for multiple Senior Center Assistant positions based at Hood College. We're seeking candidates for a full-time opportunity (40 hours per week, with comprehensive benefits) as well as part-time roles (20 hours per week). All positions operate Monday through Friday during standard business hours and are subject to system-wide reassignment as needed. The full-time position is grant-funded and includes compensatory time and overtime eligibility. Part-time positions do not include benefits. Successful candidates will play a vital role in supporting seniors and enhancing their quality of life.

What You'll Do

• Assist seniors with program participation, registration, and activity planning
• Provide exceptional customer service and support to center members
• Help maintain a clean, welcoming center environment
• Support transportation coordination and meal service operations
• Assist with administrative tasks including scheduling and record-keeping
• Respond to questions and concerns from participants and families
• Collaborate with senior staff and community partners to deliver quality services

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Ability to communicate effectively with older adults and diverse populations
• Reliable transportation and valid driver's license preferred
• Strong organizational and customer service skills
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced, community-focused environment
• Physical ability to perform standing, lifting, and other job duties
