About the Role

As a Sales Trader - Carbon Compliance with Caely in Houston, you will own the commercial relationship and the trade for carbon compliance instruments. You will connect buyers and sellers, translate regulatory and market signals into actionable ideas, and close business that supports clients meeting emissions obligations. The position is grounded in Houston and centers on day-to-day trading activity, pipeline growth, and clear communication with counterparties and internal teams. Strong performance means consistent deal flow, trusted client coverage, and disciplined execution aligned with compliance market rules.

Core Duties

• Originate and develop client relationships among corporates, utilities, and institutions active in carbon compliance markets
• Quote, negotiate, and execute trades in carbon allowances, offsets, and related compliance products
• Track regulatory updates, supply-demand balances, and price drivers that affect carbon compliance contracts
• Deliver timely market commentary, pricing color, and structured ideas that help clients manage compliance exposure
• Coordinate with risk, operations, and product colleagues to ensure accurate settlement and booking of trades
• Expand wallet share with existing accounts while building a new-business pipeline across the Houston and broader US market
• Document client interactions, deal economics, and market intel in a clear, usable format for the trading desk

Skills & Qualifications

• Hands-on sales trading or broker experience, ideally in energy, commodities, or environmental markets
• Working knowledge of carbon compliance frameworks, emissions trading systems, and allowance or offset instruments
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with comfort speaking to sophisticated buy-side and corporate clients
• Commercial instincts: ability to spot opportunity, price risk, and close tickets under time pressure
• Analytical mindset for reading price action, curve structure, and policy headlines that move compliance markets
• Reliability, organization, and professional judgment when managing confidential client information
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical trading experience
