Position Summary

The Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) is seeking a dedicated Safety Coordinator to play a critical role in ensuring the safety and health of its workforce. This position will provide essential advice, guidance, and support to maintain a safe work environment and meet the department's obligations under health and safety laws.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive advice, guidance, and support for workplace safety and health compliance.
• Develop and implement strategies to enhance workplace safety measures.
• Conduct risk assessments and hazard identification to prevent incidents and injuries.
• Ensure all staff are aware of their responsibilities under health and safety laws.
• Support the development and maintenance of safety policies and procedures.

What You Bring

• A relevant tertiary qualification in occupational health and safety, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role within a government or public sector organization.
• Demonstrated ability to provide effective advice and guidance on workplace safety issues.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels.
• A commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism and confidentiality.

About the Company

The Department of Justice and Community Safety VIC is committed to creating a safe and healthy workplace for its staff. This fixed-term, full-time position will run until 30 June 2027, offering a salary range of $100,894 - $114,476 plus superannuation.
