Registered Nurse (RN) – Neuro Surgical ICU

Hartford Hospital is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Neuro Surgical Intensive Care Unit in Harwinton, Litchfield County. This full-time position offers the opportunity to deliver critical care to post-operative neurosurgical patients in a dynamic, collaborative healthcare environment.

About the Role

As an RN in our Neuro Surgical ICU, you'll provide specialized nursing care to patients recovering from complex neurological and spinal procedures. Working permanent night shifts, you'll be an essential member of our intensive care team, delivering compassionate, evidence-based care during critical phases of patient recovery.

What You'll Do

• Monitor and assess neurological status, vital signs, and post-operative recovery progress throughout your shifts
• Administer medications, manage IV therapies, and oversee pain management protocols
• Perform frequent neurological examinations and communicate critical changes to the surgical and medical teams
• Collaborate with neurosurgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary care teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Maintain detailed, accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with all regulations
• Prioritize patient safety, infection prevention, and quality care standards
• Respond promptly to patient needs and advocate for their comfort and recovery
• Contribute to a culture of continuous learning and professional development

What We're Looking For

• Current Connecticut RN licensure (or eligibility for licensure in Connecticut)
• Strong foundation in critical care nursing principles and acute patient assessment
• Proficiency with cardiac monitors, ventilators, and other ICU equipment
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to manage multiple patients and prioritize care effectively
• Commitment to patient-centered care and professional excellence
