Waste Connections is hiring a Region Landfill Engineer to lead engineering operations and strategic projects at our Fort Russell facility in Madison County. This is a full-time opportunity to shape waste management infrastructure and technical excellence across our region.
Position Summary
As Region Landfill Engineer at Waste Connections, you'll own the engineering vision and operational oversight for landfill sites across multiple locations. You'll work directly with facility leaders and cross-functional teams to deliver compliant, efficient solutions that keep our communities' waste management running smoothly. This role suits an engineer who tackles real-world technical challenges and wants hands-on impact on how regions handle solid waste infrastructure.
Core Duties
- Lead engineering projects and capital initiatives across assigned landfill facilities
- Ensure compliance with EPA, state, and local solid waste regulations and permitting requirements
- Review and approve site designs, operational plans, and technical documentation
- Supervise and mentor site engineering staff and technical teams
- Assess facility performance, identify infrastructure needs, and direct maintenance and upgrades
- Partner with operations, environmental, and business teams on integrated improvements
- Conduct regular site evaluations and develop action plans for operational optimization
Skills & Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil, Environmental, or related engineering discipline
- Experience in landfill operations, site engineering, or solid waste management
- Knowledge of landfill design, closure requirements, and environmental compliance standards
- Demonstrated leadership and project management capabilities
- Strong analytical, technical communication, and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to travel between regional sites as operational needs require
