About the Role

As a Sports Photographer with WPIX in New York City, you will work behind the camera and in the edit suite, shooting broadcast-quality footage and natural sound, then cutting that material into compelling stories for sports and news programming. This is a hands-on, full-time, on-site position for a visual storyteller who thrives in a fast-paced newsroom and live-event environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Record video and audio for sports and news assignments across a variety of locations.
  • Edit captured footage and transmit live content back to the station.
  • Coordinate with reporters, producers, and other team members to plan assignments, logistics, and required shots.
  • Frame, light, and capture professional, broadcast-quality video that meets editorial standards.
  • Operate, care for, and maintain all assigned camera and field equipment.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience shooting and editing video, ideally in a broadcast or live-sports setting.
  • Working knowledge of professional camera gear, audio capture, and nonlinear editing tools.
  • Ability to manage logistics and deliver under tight, deadline-driven conditions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working alongside news and sports crews.
  • Willingness to work on-site in New York City as part of a full-time schedule.
