Gibson Dunn seeks a detail-oriented Litigation Docket Clerk for full-time employment in its Los Angeles or Orange County office. You'll be the organizational backbone of our Managing Attorney's Office, managing critical court calendars and deadlines that keep complex litigation running smoothly.

About the Role

As a Litigation Docket Clerk, you'll handle the calendar management and docket administration essential to our litigation practice. Supporting the Managing Attorney's Office, you'll oversee court filing deadlines, track calendar items, and ensure compliance with all applicable court procedures. You'll report to the Litigation Docket Supervisor and work directly with attorneys, paralegals, and staff to maintain the firm's litigation schedule.

What You'll Do

  • Support litigation attorneys by calculating critical deadlines and locating court documents needed for active cases.
  • Input court deadlines into CourtAlert, our firm's centralized docketing database, as filings arrive from the courts.
  • Monitor court dockets regularly for updates and generate calendar reports for attorney distribution and review.
  • Research cases and locate information using specialized legal research tools and online court resources.
  • Review court filings to confirm they comply with all applicable court rules and procedural requirements.
  • Assist with e-filing submissions for state, federal district, and appellate court proceedings.
  • Handle additional administrative projects and provide backup support to other team members as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • A working knowledge of court docketing procedures, court filing requirements, and general court rules.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational abilities—missed deadlines have serious consequences.
  • Understanding of California state and federal court procedures and civil court rules.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with attorneys and staff.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekend hours when litigation deadlines demand it.
  • Experience with litigation docketing in a law firm setting (minimum 2 years preferred).
  • Proficiency with CourtAlert or comparable rules-based calendaring software.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local court e-filing systems such as PACER, NexGen, or NYSCEF.
  • Prior work in a large law firm environment is highly desirable.
