Samsara, the company behind the Connected Operations™ Cloud (NYSE: IOT), is hiring a full-time Senior Accountant in Canada to help scale world-class accounting practices at a fast-growing, publicly traded technology leader.

About the Role

This Senior Accountant position sits at the heart of Samsara's US accounting team and offers a rare ground-floor opportunity to shape global accounting operations. Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, you'll take ownership of high-visibility accounting areas, partner across functions, and help modernize the close — including through the adoption of AI tooling. It's a role built for someone hungry to learn from top professionals, grow their craft, and make a lasting mark in a hyper-growth environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end general ledger month-end close for complex, high-visibility accounts, including preparing and reviewing reconciliations.
  • Take deep ownership of areas that may include internal-use software, inventory, deferred commissions, marketable securities and investments, intricate bank arrangements, and AP/AR accounts.
  • Apply technical accounting judgment, research US GAAP (including ASC 842, ASC 360, and ASC 350), and capture conclusions in clear, audit-ready memos.
  • Act as a cross-functional partner to procure-to-pay, treasury, payroll, sales compensation, order-to-cash, and supply chain teams, surfacing issues early.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives, designing scalable solutions powered by AI and automation that cut manual effort and lift close quality.
  • Support external audits by preparing PBC schedules, answering auditor questions, and keeping well-documented workpapers.
  • Champion and embody Samsara's cultural principles as the company scales globally.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant accounting experience spanning both public accounting and industry.
  • Comfort handling high transaction volumes in a fast-paced setting.
  • Solid grasp of operational accounting — accruals, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and intermediate Excel skills.

Nice to have: a CPA (or equivalent) or active interest in earning one, experience with NetSuite, exposure to external audit support, familiarity with AI tools such as Claude, Gem, or Glean, and a proven knack for building scalable processes under tight deadlines.
