Excellence Community Schools is hiring a full-time Music Teacher for the 2026-27 school year in Stamford, Fairfield County, Connecticut. This is an opportunity to shape young musicians and foster creative expression at the elementary and middle school level within a nationally recognized charter network.
About the Role
As a Music Teacher with Excellence Community Schools, you will design and deliver engaging music instruction across elementary and middle grade levels. You'll build students' musical literacy, performance skills, and appreciation for diverse musical traditions while supporting the school's broader commitment to academic excellence and student growth.
What You'll Do
- Plan and teach music classes aligned to state standards and school curriculum
- Develop students' technical skills through singing, instrument instruction, and music theory
- Create and direct ensemble performances, concerts, and special events
- Assess student progress and adjust instruction to support individual learning needs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate music across the curriculum
- Maintain instruments and classroom materials in safe, functional condition
- Participate in school culture and professional development initiatives
What We're Looking For
- Connecticut teaching certification in Music Education or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of music pedagogy and experience teaching K-8 students
- Proficiency on one or more instruments; piano strongly preferred
- Ability to inspire student engagement and foster musicianship
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Commitment to supporting students from diverse backgrounds
- Passion for creating an inclusive, creative learning environment
