The Opportunity

Adventhealth Ocala is seeking a dedicated Medical Laboratory Scientist for its night shift operations. As a night shift Medical Laboratory Scientist, you'll be at the heart of our laboratory team, processing specimens and generating critical diagnostic data that directly impacts patient outcomes. Working independently and as part of a focused night team, you'll perform complex testing, maintain rigorous quality standards, and support clinical decision-making around the clock. This role offers the opportunity to develop expertise in modern laboratory science while contributing to a mission-driven healthcare organization.

Core Duties

• Perform chemical, hematologic, immunologic, and other laboratory analyses on patient specimens using state-of-the-art instrumentation
• Execute testing protocols and procedures in accordance with established laboratory standards and regulatory requirements
• Ensure quality control protocols are met and troubleshoot instrument or procedural issues as they arise
• Maintain accurate specimen documentation and laboratory records
• Communicate results and findings with clinical staff to support patient care
• Apply critical thinking to interpret results and identify discrepancies or patterns requiring follow-up
• Uphold laboratory safety practices and maintain a clean, organized work environment

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field
• ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) certification or eligibility
• Demonstrated proficiency with laboratory instrumentation and computer systems
• Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols, including OSHA and CAP standards
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities during night shift hours
• Professional communication skills and willingness to collaborate with clinical teams
