The American Institutes for Research (AIR) is seeking a Medicaid Researcher, Healthcare Innovations to join our Healthcare Innovations team in Chicago, Cook County. In this full-time, on-site role, you will help shape evidence-based solutions that strengthen Medicaid coverage and improve care for the people who depend on it most.
About the Role
As a Medicaid Researcher with our Healthcare Innovations team, you will contribute to a collaborative, multidisciplinary group tackling some of the toughest questions in publicly funded health care. Your work will directly support federal and state partners as they pursue better outcomes for low-income and medically vulnerable communities across the country.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct applied research on Medicaid policy, programs, and coverage to inform real-world decision-making.
- Examine issues spanning care delivery, cost containment, and health equity within Medicaid systems.
- Partner with economists and other specialists across disciplines to design and carry out studies.
- Support federal and state clients in their efforts to improve health outcomes for underserved populations.
- Translate complex findings into clear, actionable insights for policymakers and program leaders.
Qualifications
- A background in health policy, health economics, public health, or a closely related research field.
- Demonstrated interest in or experience with Medicaid coverage, care delivery, or health equity.
- Strong analytical, research, and communication skills suited to a team-based environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team based in Chicago, Cook County.
