The Wikimedia Foundation is hiring a full-time Senior People Business Partner to shape global talent strategy and strengthen the culture behind one of the world's most trusted knowledge platforms. This role can be based in Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, the United Kingdom, or the United States.

About the Role

As a Senior People Business Partner at the Wikimedia Foundation, you will serve as a trusted advisor on global talent management, blending organizational development and change management into the Foundation's established values and ways of working. Reporting to the Senior Manager, People Experience, you will partner closely with the wider People department to keep its services, programs, and culture aligned across regions. This position rewards a collaborator who thrives on solving problems of every size, celebrates progress, learns openly from setbacks, and is equally comfortable setting strategy and working in the operational detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver ongoing HR guidance, coaching, and employee relations support to your client groups, spanning talent review, organization design, and performance management.
  • Act as a thought partner to managers and leaders, influencing senior decision-making by presenting clear, well-supported solutions and communicating with confidence across cultures.
  • Improve morale, retention, and productivity by mediating sensitive staff matters with empathy, active listening, and strict confidentiality.
  • Coordinate with internal legal counsel to limit risk and uphold compliance with international labor laws.
  • Counsel leaders and employees on performance concerns and corrective action with tact and integrity.
  • Diagnose, design, and roll out organizational solutions, conduct talent reviews, and advise on staffing, structure, and succession planning.
  • Collaborate with fellow HRBPs and People Centers of Excellence to build capability and advance the People department's strategic priorities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field with 5+ years of HR experience, or equivalent education and experience.
  • 5+ years in employee relations, HR, or labor relations, including complex cases in a global, multi-regional setting.
  • Solid grasp of international labor laws and hands-on experience navigating employee relations across countries.
  • Outstanding communication, presentation, and influencing skills, plus strong, discreet problem-solving under competing deadlines.
  • Strategic acumen and fluency with technology platforms, including AI tools such as Gemini.
  • Preferred: experience supporting fundraising, sales, marketing, or technology teams, and work within not-for-profit, public sector, or multicultural international environments.
