Position Summary
The Manager, Land Acquisition - Site & Infrastructure will oversee the planning, negotiation and delivery of land purchases and related agreements that enable infrastructure and site programs. Based in Melbourne CBD, Melbourne, you will provide clear direction to colleagues, maintain rigorous compliance with relevant legislation and policy, and ensure acquisition activity supports timely project delivery. You will act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders while safeguarding value for the Victorian community.
What You'll Do
- Lead end-to-end land acquisition strategies for site and infrastructure initiatives, from early identification through to settlement
- Negotiate commercial terms with landholders, agents and other parties while protecting public interest and project requirements
- Coordinate due diligence, valuation, survey and legal inputs so every transaction is fully informed and properly documented
- Build and maintain productive relationships with planning, legal, finance and project delivery teams across Victorian Government
- Monitor acquisition pipelines, budgets and risks, providing clear progress reporting to senior leaders
- Coach and support team members, setting priorities and ensuring consistent quality standards
- Interpret legislation, policy and procedures that govern compulsory acquisition, voluntary purchase and related property dealings
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience managing land acquisition or related property portfolios, ideally within site or infrastructure settings
- Strong negotiation, commercial judgment and stakeholder management capability
- Sound understanding of property law, valuation principles and public-sector compliance expectations
- Ability to lead complex transactions, manage competing priorities and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary inputs and delivering outcomes under tight project timeframes
- Demonstrated leadership skills and a collaborative approach suited to a government environment
