What This Role Involves

You'll oversee the complete employee benefits lifecycle at the university—from initial enrollment through separation and everything in between. Your expertise will ensure accurate records, full regulatory compliance, and every employee receives the clear guidance they need. You'll be the go-to resource for benefits questions and the architect behind our annual enrollment processes and benefit communications.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Administer daily employee benefits operations, maintaining precise records and documentation across all programs
  • Coordinate new hire benefits enrollment, helping employees select coverage options that fit their needs
  • Process employee separations and benefits disenrollment with accuracy and professionalism
  • Plan and execute annual open enrollment, including employee communications and education materials
  • Maintain and update the UMHB benefits section of the university website with current program information
  • Respond to employee benefits inquiries and provide clear explanations of coverage, options, and eligibility
  • Ensure all benefits administration remains compliant with relevant state and federal regulations

Who We're Looking For

  • Demonstrated experience managing employee benefits programs or leading related HR operations
  • Solid understanding of ERISA compliance, ACA regulations, and benefits administration best practices
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational ability with enrollment data and records
  • Talent for translating complex benefits information into language employees understand
  • Working knowledge of HRIS platforms and benefits administration software
  • Collaborative mindset and genuine commitment to excellent employee service
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
